Meditation for Insomnia And To Help You Fall Asleep

meditation-get-to-sleep

Could meditation help you fall asleep? For those that toss and turn all night long, any solution is worth checking into. Perhaps some of the tricks below will help.

Highlights:

  • Try meditating by picturing yourself on a peaceful beach, complete with moonlight, a warm, caressing breeze, and soothing waves to help you fall asleep.
  • Or - feel the pull of gravity and feel yourself giving into that pull by slowly sinking into the bed, relaxing your whole body. Along the same line, visualize yourself in a cloud, slowing sinking into its enveloping softness and comfort.
  • If the above doesn't work, try some of the common fall-backs like counting backward, or counting sheep - anything that takes your mind off of your racing thoughts so your mind can give into a peaceful, sleeping state.

"But if I need an extra push, I’ll repeat to myself, gently and softly in my mind’s eye (i.e. silently), "I am drifting off to sleep. I am drifting off to sleep.”"
